HOPE Summer Camp – Dungiven Parish

HOPE Summer Camp, Dungiven Parish, is a volunteer-led parish initiative committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive, and engaging summer programming for children and young people in the local area.

Rooted in our Christian ethos, the camp integrates faith-based values into every aspect of its activities, fostering social inclusion, personal growth, and a strong sense of community.

Designed for young people aged 10–14 from the Dungiven Parish, the camp offers a structured and supportive environment where participants can develop emotionally and spiritually, while enjoying a fun and enriching summer experience.

The week-long camp begins with a special HOPE Mass, led by the young attendees, with all camp families invited to join in this celebration of faith and community. As part of our ongoing commitment to faith development, the camp also offers opportunities to attend confessions, encouraging self-reflection and spiritual growth.

Each year, we welcome guest speakers who share their personal stories and inspire participants to reflect on how their faith shapes their choices and actions. Past speakers have included:

  • Richard Moore – Children in Crossfire
  • John Pridmore – Former gangster turned faith speaker
  • Frank Diamond – ALPS mental health advocate
  • Stephen O’Neill – Tyrone GAA All-Star and Pioneer Association member

These inspirational talks help instil core Christian values such as compassion, forgiveness, and resilience.

Through prayer, sacramental participation, and inspirational talks, HOPE Summer Camp provides a faith-nurturing environment where the young people of our parish are encouraged to live out Christian principles of kindness, respect, and service.

The camp also seeks to reconnect with those who may have drifted from parish life, offering a welcoming space to rediscover their faith and community.
